2.

1 Demonstrate
knowledge and
understanding of the
concepts, substance and
structure of the content
and teaching strategies of
the teaching area.
Within the unit plan that I wrote there was a clear demonstration of
knowledge and understanding of the concepts, substance and the
structure of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area.
This is evident throughout the unit plan.
2.2 Organise content into
an effective learning and
teaching sequence.
There is a clear organisation of the learning and teaching sequence
within the unit plan. It is evident through the layout used for the unit
plan this allows other teachers to view the document efficiently and
would enable them to use this document if they were doing relief or if
the unit plan was shared across the cohort as well as the effective
learning and teaching sequence used throughout.
2.3 Use curriculum,
assessment and reporting
knowledge to design
learning sequences and
lesson plans.
The unit plan demonstrates the clear curriculum links as well as
implementing assessment tools to assess and report on student
learning. These have been highlighted in yellow within the unit plan.
2.4 Demonstrate broad
knowledge of,
understanding of and
respect for Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander
histories, cultures and
languages.
Throughout this unit plan the teacher has demonstrated broad
knowledge of, understanding and respecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander histories, cultures and languages. It uses teaching strategies of
compare and contrasting what life was like for Aboriginals and the early
settlers when Australia was first colonised. It uses a fantastic book
resource called 'My Place' which looks at Australia's history and cultures.
It incorporates a broad range of understanding and knowledge through
the use of intercultural understanding as well as draws on the cultures
of Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders. It shows respect and
endeavors to share awareness and understanding of these cultures and
the significance they play in Australia's history as well as the part they
play in Australias future.
2.5 Demonstrate broad
knowledge of,
understanding of and
respect for Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander
histories, cultures and
languages.

Literacy and numeracy teaching strategies used throughout this unit
plan includes explicit teaching, use of different literacy modes speaking,
writing and creating throughout the unit plan. Numeracy teaching
strategies have been well thought-out and especially used to sequence
historical events. Within this unit plan the teacher needs to know and
understand the content, as well as the strategies used to apply this
teaching to student learning. I believe this is something that has been
demonstrated throughout the unit plan.
2.6 Implement teaching
strategies for using ICT to
expand curriculum-learning
opportunities for students.
In the 21st century where ICT is second nature to most people it is
important to manage it in a way that students can gain optimal use out
of the resource as well as doing it in a manner that is safe and
responsible. Teachers have an ethical obligation to ensure all use of ICT
is done whilst maintaining a supportive and safe learning environment.
ICT used within this unit plan have been used to aid and expand on
curriculum learning opportunities for students. ICT used throughout this
unit plan has been highlighted in red for clear identification.
