Subject(s) Social Studies, World Geography Length Of Lesson 1-3 Class days in the Computer Lab Lesson Overview Students will choose one of the 100 listed wonders from the website below, no one will have the same subject. They will research the facts of it and make a movie with pictures, sounds and text. Curriculum Standard 6 G2.1.2 Account for topographic and human spatial patterns (where people live) associated with tectonic plates such as volcanoes, earthquakes, settlements (Ring of Fire, recent volcanic and seismic events, settlements in proximity to natural hazards in the Western Hemisphere) by using information from GIS, remote sensing, and the World Wide Web. Learning Objectives Students will learn about different places around the world and the people who live around it. Technology Uses Students will be using Windows Live Movie Maker to create their own movie on the above subject. Materials Windows Live Movie Maker Online Resources Textbook
Procedure/Instructions 1. Choose one topic from the below link and confirm it with your Rebecca Recor Movie Lesson Plan teacher http://www.hillmanwonders.com/ 2. Research this place. You will need to include the following information: the name of the place, where the place is located, how many people live there, who created the place (or found it), how long did it take to build(if it was built) and how much did it cost, can tourists visit, and any interesting facts you found about this place. 3. Create a video on Windows Live Movie Maker on your topic 4. In your movie you must include: visuals(pictures), the information above researched on your topic, animation between slides and/or on text, and some sort of sound on all of the slide. 5. Movie must also have a title slide at the beginning and a credits slide at the end. There but be at least 3 body slides holding the researched information. Assessment Students will be graded on the movie based on its content, visuals, sounds, and creativity. Grading Rubric below.
