Focus Question: What are the stories we love to hear and tell?

Overview of program:
This Digi-Tell program is aimed at children in grades three to six and will focus on level four AusVELS
standards. It will be run over four weeks in an after-school program. Through modelling,
construction and de-construction, the fictional narrative text type and all of its features will be
taught to children; each week we will focus on a different aspect, breaking the text type into
manageable learning goals. The program has a strong literacy focus, however technology will be
embedded within the various activities. A finished product of a digital story, created by the children,
will be made.

Digi-tell program summary: Embedded circles
During the first session childrens prior knowledge will be assessed and basic concepts of a narrative
will be taught. In following weeks, outer circles of concepts, knowledge and understandings will be
added. Large examples of these circles will be made and shared with the children at the end of each
session.
