TheAmericanDreamiswhatmanyimmigrantsthinkwhencomingtoAmerica.But
someoftheimmigrantscamehereillegally.Manypeopleareagainsttheseillegalimmigrants
howevergivingillegalimmigrantscitizenshipisagoodthingbecausetheyareamericansatheart,
theyarenotcriminals,andtheyareagreathelptotheeconomy.
TheyareAmericansintheirheart,intheirminds,ineverysinglewaybutonpaper
Obama(PatriciaSmith)(Pg.9).TheseimmigrantscametoAmericachasingtheAmerican
dreamforabetterlifewiththeirfamily.Onlyafewoftheseillegalimmigrantshaveobtain
permitsforworkingbutothertakejobswithextremelylowpaytaketheGonzalezforexample
(30Days).TheGonzalezfamilybarelymanagetosupporttheirfamilybytakingmultiplejobs
anddoingsidejobssuchascollectingcanstogetasmuchastheycantosupporttheirfamily.
ThefathersaidIficanbecomealegalimmigrant,Icancreatejobsforothersbymakingmy
ownbusiness.ThiswouldhelpnotjusthimbutalsootherimmigrantsandAmericansby
creatingjobs.
Werenotcriminals(30Days).ThisisanotherreasonwhyIsupportillegalimmigrants
isbecausesomeoftheimmigrantsdidnthaveachoicetocometoAmerica.Forexamplesome
werebroughtovertotheUnitedStatesbytheirparents.Supportersarguethatyoungpeople
whowerebroughthereillegallyaschildrenareaspecialcase(SmithPatricia)(pg.9).Some

childrenarebornintheUnitedStatesmakingthemU.Scitizensandiftheirfamilysgetdeported
thenthestatewouldhavetoberesponsibleforthekids.Ivegotmykidsoverthere,my
family,mywholelife(MarcLacey)(Pg.21).Mostoftheseillegalimmigrantsarelookingfor
betterlifefortheirfamily,forexampletheGonzalezfamilylivedinabrokendownhousein
Mexico,sotheywereforcetocometotheU.Swheretheyhavebetterlivingconditions(30
Days).Iftheyweretogetdeportedthenthechildrenwhowerebornhereandarenow
Americancitizenswouldhavetostayunliketheirfamily.
MyfinalreasonwhyIsupportillegalimmigrantsisbecausetheyhelptheeconomy.
ManyimmigrantstakejobsthatAmericansdontwant,Infact,mostunskilledimmigrants
supportandsustainjobsformorehighlyskilledAmericansworkers.(JacobyTamar)(Pg.22)
IfAmericadidnthavethesekindsofworkersthentheworkofotherworkerswouldbe
affectedseverely.In30daysthedaughteroftheGonzalezfamilyhadgreatgradesschool
makingheravaluestudentfortheschoolandthestate.Withoutsomeoftheseillegalimmigrants
otherbusinesscouldbeaffectedcausingotherpeopletolosetheirjobs.Eventheunemployed
makechoicesaboutwhichjobstheyrewillingtotake,andnotenoughthemwanttoworkinthe
fieldsorworkonaassemblyline(JacobyTamar)(pg.22).Thisisyetanotherreasonwhy
illegalimmigrantshelptheeconomysomuchisbecauseofthemwillingtotakejobsthatother
peopledontwant,eventheunemployedchosenottotakethesejobs.
OpponentswillarguethatillegalimmigrantstakejobsfromAmericansbutmanyof
theseimmigrantstakethejobswithverylowpaymakinglivingconditionshard.Mostofthese
jobsthatillegalimmigrantstakearemorehandson.Americanshavebecomemoreeducated
overtime(JacobyTamar)(Pg.22).MoreAmericansaretakinghigherskilledjobsthan

physicaljobs.Halfofthenativebornmeninthelaborforcewerehighschooldropoutseager
todounskilled,physicallydemandingwork.Todayitslessthan10percent(JacobyTamar)
(Pg.22).Asyoucanillegalimmigrantsdonttakejobsbuttheyhelpfilljobsthatareneeded.

Inconclusionillegalimmigrantsshouldbegrantedcitizenshipbecausetheyarenot
criminals,theyareamericansintheirheart,andtheyhelptheeconomyinmanymorewaysthan
weknow.Thisiswhygivingillegalimmigrantscitizenshiptobecomelegalimmigrants.
