1. Physical Abuse
a. Minor physical abuse" means excessive or inappropriate force used resulting in a superficial
injury;
b. Medium physical abuse" means excessive or inappropriate force used resulting in an injury that
may reuire medical attention;
c. !evere physical abuse" means excessive or inappropriate force used resulting in a serious injury
that reuires medical attention or hospitali"ation;
d. #atal physical abuse" means excessive or inappropriate force used resulting in a child$s death.
%. &eglect
a. Minor neglect" means physical or emotional needs of the child are marginally or inconsistently
met' but little or no impact on the child$s functioning;
b. Medium neglect" means the physical or emotional needs of the child are inadeuately met
resulting in some impairment in the child$s functioning;
c. "!evere neglect" means that the physical or emotional needs of the child are not met resulting in
serious injury or illness;
d. "#atal neglect" means that the physical or emotional needs of the child are not met resulting in
death.
(. !exual abuse severity is to be determined based upon the type of contact' duration of contact' and the
emotional impact upon the child.
