WHAT DOES THIS DATA MEAN?...
For Trace Crossings:
- GREEN TO RED
ON A SCHOOL LEVEL...
- Math seemed to be a weaker
point according to the data
COMPARED WITH STATE
- Almost all test scores were
below state average in school
year 2011-12 whereas in the
2010-11 school year majority
tested higher
For Jones Valley (Oxmoor Valley):
- RED TO GREEN
ON A SCHOOL LEVEL...
- Math and Reading scores are low
in 2010-11 but made substantial
increases in school year 2011-12
COMPARED WITH STATE
- Progression from below state
average to HIGHER!
Strengths and Weaknesses...
TRACE CROSSINGS
Strengths:
- Reading in school year 2010-11
- In the process of taking BIG
initiatives towards better differentiating
instruction for all students
Weaknesses:
- Non-white students seem to be
falling behind
- Reading intervention is absolutely
necessary
Jones Valley Elementary

(except for poverty+reading) scored above
state average!

negative impacts on students achievement

Accountability Resources...
Trace Crossings:
- Global Scholar is very effective at Trace.
- This software program allows parents and
students to find pre-screened tutors for a variety of
subjects and grade levels.
- Tutoring sessions occur on the website and the
students have access to an online whiteboard, audio and
video, archiving and billing is also available through the
software.
- The program keeps track of student progress,
that parents and teachers have access to as well as
monitor their progress.
- IXL (math) and Raz Kids (reading) Both of these
programs provide activities and practice for students, as
well as a login username to keep track of their progress
for easy access at home and school (parents and
teacher access)
Oxmoor Valley:
- Very new school, working to try and find the
best accountability resources that will be the best
benefit for the teachers, students and parents as a
whole
- Looking into Global Scholar and the Response
To Intervention program
- RTI has been popular among the Birmingham
City schools and is a great candidate for Oxmoor to
begin implementing
- New website with no resources posted yet
-Newsletter available: Not sent out to parents,
but available in front office
Role Support Personnel...
Trace Crossings:
- Math coach, reading coach and ELL
teacher
- coaches are more than willing to work
with teachers to make sure they are on task
- All role support personnel are available
to the teachers, students and parents.
- Resources are provided by the different
personnels
Oxmoor Valley:
- There are gifted, math, reading and
behavior role support personnels
- These support personnels will pull
students from class to work individually
with the students.
- Because the school is so new their roles
are not as concrete and developed as
they could be
- Teachers have PLP- Share successes,
failures, new ideas, etc.
