The war that broke out in 1860 was the Civil War. This war broke out because there
was uncompromising differences between slave states and free states over the
power of the national government. African Americans, both free and run away
slaves, traveled North to be in the Union Army.

In 1860, the Civil War broke out because of conflict over issues of how much control
the national government should have. After Abraham Lincoln was elected president
in 1860, 11 southern states seceded from the United States. After four years of
fighting, slavery ended.

didn't want the Indians to take their cattle while they were asleep.

The cowboys should of been looking out for the Comanche tribe. The Comanche
tribe was the most troublesome tribe, and the most feared. Their mobility and
horses made the Texans scared of the Comanche tribe.

The Comanche tribe nickname from many people was, Lords of the Plain. These
Indians had the largest and best herd out of all the Indian tribes. The Comanche
tribe was also a feared warrior. They were great warriors and horsemen that
protected their land.

The Ku Klux Klan known as the KKK was founded in 1866 and spread to almost all
southern states by 1870. Most Klan members were dressed in white robes wearing
white masks carried out their attacks at night. They attacked African Americans.
The Ku Klux Klan ended in 1871 when a law was made. The law said that what the
Ku Kluxers did was a federal offense.

The Ku Klux Klan was a white supremacist organization that was founded in 1866.
The Ku Klux Klan used acts of terrorism to oppose the granting of civil rights to
African Americans. These acts of terrorism were murder, lynching, arson, rape and
bombing.
The KKK ended in 1871 due to the act of 1871.

the book, it states thats Abilene was a trading town and it was very busy. There was
always something to do and it was known for cattle drives.

population. In the town of Abilene, there was a hotel, a jail, a courthouse, many

Abilene, Kansas was a major shipping point for cattle and wheat. The town, which
was founded in 1881, had many diverse manufactures. These manufactures were

Abilene was nicknamed the town that never sleeps.
