controlling disease requires one to understand its ecology,
effectiveness of disease control is largely dependent upon
collaborative understandings and efforts. What is disease? How does it affect our lives? Fish bowl activity (30 mins total).

Come up with the three most important ideas. Add

previous steps, however this time you may comment on other comments if you choose to. What is disease? Disease:
a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or
plant, especially one that produces specic symptoms or that affects a specic location and is not simply a direct result of physical injury. Write a list of diseases that you have suffered from in your lifetime. If there are some you prefer not to mention, then leave them off the list :) Is all disease the same? Infectious disease:
An infectious disease is caused by a pathogen and can be
transmitted from person to person. A pathogen is an agent of disease, e.g. bacteria Non- infectious disease:
A non-infectious disease is one that is caused by the
environment, lifestyle or genes. Compile a list of diseases suffered by the whole class. Using Pages, construct a table with a title and clear headings. Identify each disease as infectious or non- infectious.
