Inspiration

These are photos of a mock-up book

fold that I learned in Jan Baker’s Work-
shop as a requirement for the Graphic
Design fall sophomore curriculum. I
chose this object because it is simple to
make and can be used for a variety of
display options.
Mock up

I followed a similar process in con-

structing the ideal mock up for the
students to make. This book displays
Laura in arabic and is meant to be an
object for personal or private use.
Practice work
The goal of this lesson is to make students familiar with the Arabic language. If On my computer, I was able to type the students’ names in PowerPoint. I changed

Worksheets and Visuals for Presentation

Instructions for the work-

sheet were for students to
trace their names (not out-
line them) and then copy
them on their own.

In addition to writing some words on the chalkboard (Ahlan

wa Sahlan-Hello, Ana Ismee-My name is, El 3rabiya-Arabic),
my visuals included these handouts illustrating the differ-
ent ways that Arabic type is used. L-R: The Qu’ran, a page

ceramic wall on the outside of a mosque.

a sweat

After the introductory information was given, we

took the patterns and wrapped 2 pieces of board
that would serve as the covers.

These are some samples of the patterns that I printed out and provided for the students.
