ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS

HOWARD COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL
The Howard County Arts Council
(HCAC) is pleased to offer
scholarships for students who would
like to pursue a career in the arts.
This year, HCAC will award a
minimum of $10,000 in
scholarship funds to students
entering college in the 2010-2011
academic year.
Scholarships must be used for
enrollment in an accredited college
program for a degree in the arts.
Awards will be made in the
minimum amount of $1,000 and
may be used for tuition and fees
only.
Review criteria will include artistic
merit, demonstrated knowledge of an
artistic discipline, commitment to a
career in the arts, and a
demonstrated track record of
success in an academic setting.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
GUIDELINES:
♦ The applicant must be a legal resident of
Howard County.
♦ The applicant must be a high school senior.
♦ The applicant must be applying to major or concentrate
in an arts-based program at an accredited college or
university.
♦ The completed application form must be accompanied
by two (2) sealed letters of recommendation from
teachers, artists, or professionals who are familiar with
the applicant’s work.
♦ The application packet must also include a sealed
academic transcript from the applicant’s school.
♦ Students are required to submit work samples with their
application such as slides or CD (visual art), original
compositions (e.g. poetry, prose, script),
audio or video (instrumental or vocal), or
video (e.g. dance, theatre, film).

♦ Application deadline is January 11, 2010.

Applications MUST be received by this
date.
