IwasraisedontheAfricanproverbIttakesawholevillagetoraiseachildandIbelievethata
teacherispartofthatvillage.Asateacher,Istrivetocreateasafeandwelcominglearningenvironmentfor
eachchildinmyclassroom.Ibelievegiventhecorrecttools,allchildrenareabletobesuccessfulwithastrong
teambehindthem.Teachersgivechildrenthetoolstovaluetheireducation,toalwaysaimhigh,andtobelieve
inthemselves.
WhilecompletingmyresidencyatMarquetteSchoolofExcellence,Iworkedwithlowincomechildren
fromthesouthChicagoarea.Eventhoughitbrokemyhearttoseesomanychildrenandfamiliesstrugglingon
adailybasis,itwasarelieftoknowthatIwashelpingthemsucceedthroughdailylessonsfocusedontheir
needstogetthemtothenextlevelintheireducation.Duringmyresidencyyear,I:

Asateacherinyourschool,Iwillcreateinteractive,stimulatinglessonswhichwillintrigueaswellas
challengeallofmystudentstoreachtheirpotentialandbeyond.Thiswilldemonstratethatlearningisnotonly
beneficialbutcanalsobefun.Iwillencouragemystudentstobethemselvesandnottobeafraidofthe
unknown.BybeingtransparentandsharingtheobstaclesIhaveovercome,itwillhelpmetobeapositiverole
andletthemknowthattheirpastandtheircircumstancesdonotdictatetheirfuture.Ifmychildrenareexcited
aboutlearningandarecommittedtoworkinghard,Iwouldconsiderthatasuccessasateacher.
Inconclusion,IfeelIwouldbeavaluableassetasateacherinyourschool.ThetrainingIhave
receivedinAUSLcoupledwithmypriorexperiencesinclassroomsatBrightHorizonsandtheOhioschool
systemswillgivemethetoolsIneedtobesuccessful.Ilookforwardtohearingfromyouregardingmy
