Step II A. Description of School and Teaching,
Administrative, or Pupil Services Situation
Description of Position
I am currently teaching high school social studies at Platteville High School
Number of Years in Position
1 Year
School Location/Setting
Platteville High School is part of a rural school district in a college driven town. It is located in
Southwest Wisconsin. The high school is also accompanied by a middle school, elementary
school, and a learning cernter within the district.
Demographics
480 students are enrolled at the high school. 80% of these students are white, 8% African-
American, 6% Asian, 4% Hispanic, and 2% Indian. 7% of enrollees have a disability. 12% of
students qualify for subsidized lunch and 3% are ELL.
District Goals
Advance a culture which reinforces and supports a higher level of academic achieement.
Promote stronger community relationships and spirit within our community.

Step II B. Description of Goal to be Addressed
Goal:
I will study community needs so that I can ensure program activities fill specific needs of the
community. Community involvement by the students will help foster positive attitudes from
other community members towards the school district.

Step II C. Rationale for the Goal: Links to Professional
Situation and Wisconsin Educator Standards
Goal:
I will study community needs so that I can ensure program activities fill specific needs of the
community. Community involvement by the students will help foster positive attitudes from
other community members towards the school district.
Rationale for your Goal:
Platteville High School has made community one of its priorities. To help focus on this priority I
will use student involvement projects to incorporate specific units. The combonation of these
together will allow students to become more involved with their community while also learning
the content in a meaningful way. Activities outside of the classroom get students active in the
learning which is a way to utilize different teaching strategies. Student involvement within the
community will also help the community to be more tightly bound because of the ensuing
relationship between the citizens and the school district.
Licensure standard(s) addressed in your plan:
Teacher:(1) The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures
of the disciplines he or she teaches and can create learning experiences that make these
aspects of subject matter meaningful for pupils.
Teacher:(2) The teacher understands how children with broad ranges of ability learn and
provides instruction that supports their intellectual, social and personal development.
Teacher:(4) The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies,
including the use of technology to encourage children's development of critical thinking,
problem solving, and performance skills.
Teacher:(5) The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and
behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction,
active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.
Teacher:(10) The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents and
agencies in the larger community to support pupil learning and well being and who acts
with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner.

Step II D. Plan for Assessing and Documenting the Goal
Goal:
I will study community needs so that I can ensure program activities fill specific needs of the
community. Community involvement by the students will help foster positive attitudes from
other community members towards the school district.
I will assess my professional growth through:
Recording weekly progress reports on possible community projects, results of recent
projects, and how effective I was as an administrator of these projects.
Continually creating sample lessons that include activities that the students can do.
Meet with educators in other departments to gather ideas they have and provide them
with helpful hints.
I will assess my students' progress through:
Continually using formative assesssment and summative assessment forms.
I will be on cite with them majority of them time to observe
Use surveys for the community members to get an idea of how they think the students are
doing on certain projects.
Weekly journals from the students explaining their experiences, any questions or
concerns they have from the week.

best for the cirriculum and students.
