ABSTRACT
Public place is held by means of public / private / individual that is used for
activities for the community, in addition to public places is a meeting place for all
sorts of people with a disease that belongs to the community. The market is a public
place where there is buying and selling process between sellers and buyers, the
market is also a place of deployment of all diseases, especially diseases of the media
food, beverage air, and water. Therefore, the effort required to make basic sanitation
in the market to maintain market conditions and prevent the spread of disease to the
community
The purpose of this research was to determine the implementation of basic
sanitation in Pringgans traditional market in Medan. The methods used in this
research is observation and interviews using questionnaries to 85 respondents that
selected stratified randomly, consisting of 81 seller respondent, and 4 manager
respondents. This research used a survey technique that is descriptive and
observational results are displayed in the form of a frequency distribution table.
The result showed that the implementation of basic sanitation in Pringgans
Traditional market that are based on KepMenKes No. 519 of 2008 on the
administration of healthy market generally referred to the less category which only
meets 21 (46,7% of 45 criteria. Level of managers knowledge are in good category.
They are 4 person (100%). Level of seller knowledge are in good category they are
55 person (67,9%). Attitude throught managers (100%) fall into (either/good)
category. Attitude of the seller fall into intermediate category they are (82,7%). The
actions of manager are in ( equal/intermediate) category they are 3 person (75%).
The seller actions are in less category (63,0%). Support all of managers (100%) are
in (equal/intermediate) category. Seller support are in (intermediate/equal) category
(76,5%).
Based on the results of expected managerial of Pringgan Traditional market
provides market basic sanitation needs and carry out periodic inspection to monitor
market conditions to remain a good market, expected to local government to pay
more attention to market conditions and inpose more regullation on control of the
traditional market firmly, so the market managers pay more attention to market
conditions thet they manage.
