EPISIOTOMY
Also known as perineotomy
It is a planned, surgical incision on perineum or
posterior vaginal wall during 2
nd
stage of labor
The incision is done on 90 degree from vulva
towards anus or at an angle from posterior end of
vulva
It is done under local anesthetic and is sutured after
delivery

UTERINE RUPTURE
Most occur during labour, however up to 1/3 uterus
scar following earlier Caesarean may rupture during
3
rd
trimester
PROLAPSE OF UTERUS
Muscle weakness or relaxation may allow the uterus
to sag or come completely out
It has various stages :
1) 1
st
degree : cervix drops into vagina
2) 2
nd
degree : cervix drops to the level inside just
opening of vagina
3) 3
rd
degree : cervix outside the vagina
4) 4
th
degree : entire of uterus outside vagina
