Transfer Entrance Requirements Applicants: 2,751 Admit Rate: 35% Enrolled: ~ 800 Average Cumulative GPA: 3.66 Average Math/Science GPA: 3.64 Selection Criteria Transfer admission is based on a competitive, and comparative process. Applicants are evaluated in context of the overall applicant pool, as well as by individual academic major, for the term of application. To be competitive for transfer admission consideration, applicants must meet or exceed the following criteria by the document deadline for the term of application. Meeting these requirements makes a student eligible for admission consideration, but does not imply or guarantee admission. A minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours that are transferable to Georgia Tech. Successful completion of all required courses on the Course Requirements by Major chart for the prospective major. Meet or exceed both the cumulative and combined math/science GPA guidelines for competitive admission consideration in the prospective major. All applicants must be in good standing during the last term of enrollment at their prior institutions. Continue Transferable Hours The minimum number of transferable hours must include the specific required courses for the prospective major. Further, the minimum total of transferable hours must be from coursework successfully complete by the document deadline for the application term. (Advanced Placement (AP) or other type of credits by examination may be used to fulfill specific course requirements, but additional coursework must be completed via in-class credits to reach the 30 semester or 45 quarter hour requirement.)
Continue Based on a 4.00 GPA system, the minimum GPA for competitive transfer admission consideration in most majors is 3.00. Because admission to the Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering programs is highly competitive, the minimum GPA for admission consideration in these programs is 3.30. The competitive GPA guidelines apply to both the overall cumulative GPA and the GPA of the student's math and science courses. The cumulative GPA includes all courses taken at all colleges and/or universities attended. The math/science GPA includes a combination of all mathematics courses at the calculus level and higher along with all natural science courses including both lecture and laboratory components.
My Career Path
What is Chemical Engineering ? Chemical engineering occupies a unique position at the interface between molecular sciences and engineering. Intimately linked with the fundamental subjects of chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics and in close collaboration with fellow engineering disciplines like materials science, computer science, and mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering chemical engineering offers unparalleled opportunities to do great things. Continue Traditionally linked to fuel combustion and energy systems, today's chemical engineers are spearheading new developments in medicine, biotechnology, microelectronics, advanced materials, energy, consumer products, manufacturing, and environmental solutions. A new generation of chemical engineering-trained entrepreneurs are forming innovative new businesses, no doubt influenced by the fact that chemical engineers have served as CEOs of such leading global businesses as 3M, DuPont, Intel, General Electric, Union Carbide, Dow Chemical, Exxon, BASF, Gulf, and Texaco. People with undergraduate and graduate chemical engineering degrees go on to work in industry, academia, consulting, law, medicine, finance, and other fields
