Introduction This report details what equipment I have chosen to purchase for a startup film company with a budget of 250,000.

Background Once I had completed my research into websites that I could purchase production equipment from for our mini-production in LO1 I decided that the best website for me to get all of the equipment from was; http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/. The reason that I have decided to use this website is because I feel that I will be able to purchase all of the desired equipment for my production and all of this will be of a good quality and at a reasonable price.

Camera Equipment The camera that I have chosen is a Sony NEX-FS700EK 4K Ready Super 35mm Exmor CMOS Sensor NXCAM Camcorder with Lens for 5,994.00 I choose this camera because I did some research into good quality cameras and this one jumped out the most to me and was also available on the PEC website. This camera produces HD quality footage and images with additional fine detail and reduced noise making a much better HD picture. I have decided to get two of the cameras for ease when filming if we are filming in different areas at one time and because of the fairly low price of the camera it was still good value to buy two. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/cameras/sony-nex-fs700e-4k-ready-super-35mm-exmor- cmos-sensor-nxcam-camcorder-with-e-mount-lens-system-body-only-2426.html

Lens The camera that I have chosen to purchase comes with a lens included in the price which meant that it wasnt vital for me to buy another lens but I felt that considering the budget we have been given is 250,000 that I could easily buy a good quality lens one with a larger optical zoom for better quality footage at a further distance just giving the production a larger scope and good quality equipment for all filming needs if a zoom was needed at some point during filming. At 2,024.40 is also fairly good value for a lens. I chose this particular lens because it has a precision-designed ultra wide lens and aspherical elements to boost image quality, wide angle lenses are useful when you can't stand back far enough to get everything you want in shot. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/lenses-adapters/canon-ef-14mm-f-2-8l-ii-usm-wide-angle- lens.html

Monitor I choose the Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q OLED Monitor because this was advertised with the camera that I have chosen therefore I felt that these two pieces of equipment were clearly compatible and work well together. As well as this the monitor has many features that would be useful to a production team when filming; Waveform, Zebras, Histogram, Vectorscope, Focus Assist, False Color, Timecode Display and Audio Level Meters, and 1:1 Pixel mode. For all of the features that you get I felt that the price was very good at 2,094.00 and possibly feel that I should buy two for both of the cameras. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/production-monitors/convergent-design-odyssey7-1.html

Memory Cards http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/16gb-sandiskr-extremer-sdhctm-card-8.html SanDisk Extreme SDHC Card 128GB. 147.36 my reason for choosing this memory card is because of the large amount of memory giving the production team freedom when filming because it means that they wont have the constant worry of running out of memory.

Tripod I chose the E-Image EI-7085 Fluid Head Tri-Pod with 2 Stage Carbon Fibre Legs at the price of 1,074.00 the reason for this choice is because I felt that it was important for the equipment to be fairly light and easily transportable, carbon fibre legs on this particular tripod will mean that it is light; it also includes a telescopic pan bar which saves buying a separate piece of equipment specifically for panning. I will be purchasing two of the tripods for the use of both of the cameras. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/tripods/e-image-7085-fluid-head-tri- pod-with-carbon-fibre-legs.html

Track and Dolly The DollyCrane is an innovative Grip system combining the function of the camera slider and mini jib / crane. Once set up, the system can quickly change its function from camera slider to jib and back thanks to its unique construction. This piece of equipment is attractive as it combines two pieces of equipment in one and therefore is cost effective. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/floatcam-dollycrane-dc-slider.html

Jib The Hague Pro-Jib has been designed for use with heavier cameras, to support a maximum weight of 14 kilos. This job was attractive to me as a customer because the camera that I plan on purchasing is a heavy duty camera and therefore will need more support this jib is specifically for heavier cameras. At the price of 514.80 it is cost effective. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/k14-pro-jib-arm-system.html

Microphone Sony ECM-88BC 4-Pin Lapel Microphone for use with wireless or wired systems. 358.80 Sennheiser MD46 Interview Mic (cardiod) 222.00 For the microphones I chose one wireless and one interview style microphone because this means that I am prepared for any situation that may occur during our mini-production. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/audio-equipment/wired-microphones/sony-ecm-88bc-xlr- lead-lapel-microphone.html http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/audio-equipment/wired-microphones/sennheiser-md46- interview-mic-cardiod.html

Sound Mixer The sound mixer that I have chosen is the datavideo SE-900 (SE900) 8 Channel SD Mixer / Switcher which includes all of the desired features that would be needed when filming a production; and more than would be expected for the price of it. The only downside to it is that it does not include the input cards. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/datavideo-se-900-se900-8-channel-sd-mixer-switcher.html

Lighting Equipment I chose this specific lighting kit because it includes 1x Photoflex Starlite + 500w bulb, stand, soft box, thermo pouch 2x Dedo DLH4 heads, 2x barn doors, 2x 24v transformer dimmers, 2x stands, 4x 150w bulbs, accessory case and ridged padded travel case and for the price of 2,142.00 this is very good, the kit is called PEC Dedo/Starlite Starter Kit and therefore will cater for any needs that we may have at the start of our production company and as the company grows we can get a larger lighting kit when we start making productions on a larger scale. http://www.pec.co.uk/pecvnew/lighting/lighting-kits/pec-dedo-starlite-starter-kit.html

Editing Equipment For the editing equipment I will be using a different website to PEC.co.uk, the reason for this is purely because this website does not stock the editing equipment that I feel would be best. Therefore I am going to purchase the Apple Macs for the Apple store itself the reason for this is because you can get the best deals on their website and they come with warranty if anything was to happen to the equipment. I will be purchasing 2 iMacs, having two will make the whole editing process a lot quicker because more than one person can use the Mac at once. My reason for choosing iMacs is because these computers come with built in editing software that I believe to be the best and that is final cut pro and this is all included in the price of 1,599. http://www.apple.com/uk/imac/
