Martina [mahr-tee-nuh]
Every time I am asked to define myself, I am pretty sure I always give the wrong answer.
I start to get nervous, the words that I am trying to say do not have any sense; I am a mess.
When I am able to articulate correctly, it is a still, vague answer. I believe then, that there is
more than one correct answer. The environment around me defines where I am from, my
friends defines the social aspect of myself, my ancestors defines my economic value, my family
defines my morals. But, still, I believe that these entire pieces make up the puzzle of what I
stand for, that is what actually defines me.
I stand for math, the only course that actually does appear on other courses and also,
the only reason why our world is held together right now. The brilliant mathematician minds
are the reason why anything is possible; they make every problem appear as solvable.
Mathematicians celerity for answering hopeless arithmetic problems is what makes me believe
there is change in the world.
I stand for soccer, the sport that causes humanity to forget their differences. Those 90
minutes that everyone just focus in the scoring a goal, in shouting a foul, in cheering with a
constant beat with another 10,000 souls. Soccer is 90 minutes of forgetting there are pain,
tragedy and sorrow in the world.
I stand for the concept family, the only people that no matter what will love you and
support you, even though it does not seem so sometimes. They are the basis of the morals and
ethics anyone has. They build up the kind of person you are. Home is where family is, no matter
what.
I stand for having fun, for happiness, for laughs, for joyful memories that mark our path
into new ones. Since there is only one life, better make it worth it. We are the miracle of life,
people should take advantage of it and be someone that makes a bigger change in the world.
I stand for the way people look, the eyes able to express even the deepest part of the
soul. They are the mirror to who a person really is. You can tell more about how someone sees
you, than how he or she speaks of you. Words are selfish, real truth is told when nothing is said.

I stand for liberty, for having the right of saying who you are and what you believe, yet
not having fear of being oppressed or discriminated with overt comments. People who have
fought for equality throughout modern history did not do it in vain. If the world joined into a
covenant in order to fight for everyones equality, there will be no discrimination. Everyone had
the rights of living a common life, no matter who you are.
I guess I am not an easy definition to find on a dictionary.
