PDL2 Field Project

a) The Problem of top priority in your service area:

We lack traditional leadership and commissioner service in several Scoutreach units.

b) The specific objective and desired outcome for the project:

Our objective would be to collaborate with traditional, well-established units and have
them host one event where one of our Scoutreach units would take part. Our outcome
will be to increase the number of events that the Scoutreach units are taking advantage of
and increase the likelihood of engaging traditional Scouters to serve as assistant leaders
and commissioners. In addition, this would decrease start up unit expenses.

c) The facts used to identify the problem:

We conducted a current status and needs of all units report to identify our priority areas
of concentration.

d) The specifics on the project:

The plan covers four seasons with advancement collaborations in each. We aim to have
this project take place both at the Boy Scout and Cub Scout levels. Unit leaders will be
approached at: round tables, unit meetings, Wood Badge training, and any gathering of
multiple units. If the relationship is already established, a phone call would be
appropriate. The advancement program will work as long as there is traditional unit buy
in; our most effective tool will be to use the past board president to make the pitch to
several units. We recommend that a unit where there is an existing relationship is asked
to collaborate. Our best decision is to make face to face asks with a point person present,
such as a priest or a chartering representative. Our worst decision will be to ask a unit
that might not be ready to work with a diverse population.
