Each session lasted 1 hour. The student I worked with is in a wheelchair due to a muscle condition where she can cannot walk or use her arms much when things are at length. I n our session, we used a slant board and a table provided for her mother. I provided the iPad and the application that was worked on during these sessions. The student is going into the 8 th grade. Nothing is cognitively wrong with the student so we used the application Edupad (iTooch) to work on getting her ahead in Language and Math. We spent the last thirty minutes of the last session looking at the music application of Edupad.
I STE-1, 1.a, 1.b, 1.d, 3, 3.a., 3.b, 3.d, 3.e, 5, 5.a, 5.b, 5.c, 6, 6.a, 6.b, 6.c 1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and leadership from completing this field experience?
I learned that it takes a lot of planning and going through different digital tools to find the best product to help a student with special needs. After googling, downloading and trying out products I finally settled on one
DIVERSITY (Place an X in the box representing the race/ethnicity and subgroups involved in this field experience.) Ethnicity P-12 Faculty/Staff P-12 Students P-2 3-5 6-8 9-12 P-2 3-5 6-8 9-12 Race/Ethnicity: Asian Black X Hispanic Native American/Alaskan Native White Multiracial Subgroups: Students with Disabilities X Limited English Proficiency Eligible for Free/Reduced Meals
that I downloaded from the app store called Edupad. This is all part of being a leader of technology. The students will definitely benefit from the teacher or facilitator researching the software or application and receiving training on the assistive technology product that is being used.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)
The student that was involved in this experience is getting a head start on learning the 8 th grade standards that she will be taught and will be required to master before the end of the upcoming school year.
She will be able to have prior knowledge of the standards that will be taught to her in 8 th grade, which will give her a head start on skills and standards thats required to be mastered by the end of the upcoming school year.
The student that was involved in this experience was very excited about the experience. She loves technology and learning new concepts comes very easy to her. She kept stating to me that she is going to be the smartest 8 th grader at her school. She is ready to start 8 th grade in a few weeks with a very enthusiastic attitude!
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
This will help the student with learning new skills and standards for the next school year. She will have prior knowledge of the skills and standards when her teachers are teaching them starting in a few short weeks. She is one step ahead and ready to take on the task of completing 8 th grade successfully!
