Activity: Participate in the School Improvement Plan Committee that Analyzes Student

Achievement Data
Description:
I worked with the instructional coach and administration to develop the schools School
Improvement Plan. The plan was developed ased on the previous years data and once
the plan was created it was proposed to the schools !eadership Team "or "inal approval.
#hat went well$
%ne o" the est parts o" this process was that every point made in the plan was ased on
the data. &othin' was put into place i" it was not ased on student data and i" it did not
show that improvements in student achievement would e made. This is a key part to
any success"ul school improvement plan.
#e were ale to access in"ormation "rom the past three years usin' the C%(&%S system
that )amilton County has in place. This system is very ene"icial and it allowed us to 'o
ack three years to look "or trends within our data so that we could really make ade*uate
'oals within our school improvement plan.
#hat did not$
The plan was supposed to e completed y the leadership team+ however, this is not what
happened. Poor plannin' caused the team to e unale to come up with a time to meet to
develop this plan. Since the plan had to e completed in a timely manner, administration
chose to have a select "ew complete it. #hile the -o 'ot done this was not est practice
since all 'rade levels were not represented and everyone was not ale to take ownership
o" the "inal product y havin' a hand in it. This was also a prolem ecause all o" the
'rade levels were not present to rainstorm solutions and 'oals ased on the data sets that
were 'iven to us "rom the previous years test.
(iven the chance to do it a'ain, how would you do it etter$
I would have worked ahead and made sure that schedulin' a date on the calendar was a
priority. I would have developed the proposed SIP with the !eadership Team and
proposed the document to the teachers and sta"" as a school as a whole since they would
all e e.pected to live y the norms "ound within the SIP.
