1. What is voltage collapse? Identify system design and operating measures that can
be taken to prevent voltage collapse.

2.a) Derive the relation indicating dependency of voltage on reactive power flow.
b) Analyse the voltage stability through p-v curves.

3. Describe in detail the voltage collapse phenomenon with the help of Q-V curves.

4. Establish an indicator for voltage stability and the condition for voltage collapse.

5.a) Explain the relation between J acobian and voltage collapse proximity indicator.
b) Explain the role of synchronous condensers in reactive power compensation.

6. Explain how the voltage instability is affected by the following loads.
i) Air-Conditioning
ii) Electronics Power Supplies
iii) OH lines.

7. Discuss the practical aspects in applying the methods of improvement in voltage
stability.

8. Discuss the voltage stability limit when shunt capacitor compensation is applied.
