The Invention of the Wheel

A wheel is a circular component that is intended to rotate on an axial bearing. The wheel is one of the
main components of the wheel and axle which is one of the six simple machines. Wheels, in conjunction
with axles, allow heavy objects to be moved easily facilitating movement or transportation while
supporting a load, or performing labor in machines. Wheels are also used for other purposes, such as
a ship's wheel, steering wheel, potter's wheel and flywheel.
The wheel is everywhere on all our cars, trains, planes, machines, wagons, and most factory
and farm equipment. What could we move without wheels? But as important as the wheel is
as an invention, we don't know who exactly made the first wheel. The oldest wheel found in
archeological excavations was discovered in what was Mesopotamia and is believed to be
over fifty-five hundred years old.

Rhinoceros
status
Rhinoceros /ransrs/, often abbreviated as rhino, is a group of fiveextant species
of odd-toed ungulates in the family Rhinocerotidae. Two of these species are native
to Africa and three to Southern Asia.
description

Members of the rhinoceros family are characterized by their large size (they are some of the
largest remaining megafauna, with all of the species able to reach one tonne or more in
weight); as well as by an herbivorous diet; a thick protective skin, 1.55 cm thick, formed
from layers of collagen positioned in alattice structure; relatively small brains for mammals
this size (400600 g); and a large horn. They generally eat leafy material, although their
ability to ferment food in their hindgut allows them to subsist on more fibrous plant matter, if
necessary. Unlike other perissodactyls, the two African species of rhinoceros lack teeth at
the front of their mouths, relying instead on their powerful premolarand molar teeth to grind
up plant food.
habitats
The five species of rhinoceros that occur in Africa and Asia live in assorted natural habitats. The
two in Africa, the black rhino and the white rhino, live in very different conditions than the Indian,
Javan and Sumatran rhinos of Asia. These huge mammals have habitat requirements based
mostly on their strictly vegetarian diets.
