SUNDESH-overall socio-economic development of the rural & urban poor
on a sustainable basis, through different participatory and need-based
initiatives. It aims to reach out to the weaker and more vulnerable sections --
such as women and children, illiterate and unemployed – of the society. Today,
SUNDESH operates in Ghaziabad and Gautam Budha Nagar district of Uttar
Pradesh, and has -- more recently – established presence in Rudrapur district
of Uttrakhand. Over the years, it has contributed to many worthy causes,
addressing children’s literacy, improving healthcare services, skill development,
and environment, to name a few.
MEDICAL PLANT PROJECT-Dabur has started the project on medicinal
plants in NORTHEAST STATES to provide the modern technology for
cultivation of the required medicinal herbs of Himalayas to the
farmers. The only eco-friendly project of CSR nature in India, this initiative is
fully integrated with the company’s business vision.
Nursery and bee keeping program-Dabur support the western states
farmers to grow nursery and provide funds for bee keeping programs in
west bengal and northeast states.

Nestle at CSR
 Safe Drinking Water-Water is a scarce resource, In India, availability of clean drinking water
is a major concern for many communities. Almost 200 million people do not have access to clean
drinking water. Nestlé India is committed to improving the situation and believes that the first
step is to create awareness in the communities around its factories. A key focus area of our
Corporate initiatives is to help provide Clean Drinking Water and educate children in schools to
conserve this scarce resource.
 Education and Training-Nestlé supports initiatives to create awareness about the right to
education and encourages the communities around its factories to send their children to school.
Nestlé India employees have developed a special play 'Let Us Go to School' for this purpose. This
has been staged amongst the communities around our factories, and its recordings screened at
smaller gatherings along the milk routes. The Company also recognizes the active role that
village women play in adopting good dairying practices in dairy farms and regularly conduct
special programs that help them.Nestlé India supports local schools, helps in the maintenance of
public parks and green belts, facilitates blood donation camps and health awareness programs.
The key messages of conservation, hygiene, health and wellness are progressively built into the
communities where the Company is present. All these initiatives strengthen the bond between
Nestlé India and the community.

 Green barrens- Water Conservation and Harvesting
 HUL is committed to extending its efforts on water management to
the larger community, and has engaged in community projects in
water adjacent to manufacturing sites.
 Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli - In association with an
NGO, Vanarai, HUL's Silvassa manufacturing hub (in the Union
Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli) embarked on a long-term project
of water harvesting, which aimed to dramatically change water
availability, taking it up to year-round availability from 4 months.
 Maharashtra - HUL’s Khamgaon factory is located in a dry and arid
region of Maharashtra. The community at Parkhed has already
constructed 47 percolation bunds, 1600 trenches, 6000 running
metres of continuous contour trenching over 100 hectares and 5
permanent check dam. About 7000 saplings have been planted in
2006 in addition to 10000 planted in 2004 and 20,000 saplings were
planted during the 2003 monsoon.
Project Shakti
 Project Shakti: Changing lives in rural India- Hindustan Unilever's Project
Shakti is a rural initiative that targets small villages populated by less than
2000 individuals. It is a unique win-win initiative that catalyses rural affluence
even as it benefits business. Project Shakti impacts society in two ways – the
Shakti Entrepreneur program creates livelihood opportunities for
underprivileged rural women and the Shakti Vani program improves quality of
life by spreading health and hygiene awareness .
 Lifebuoy Swasthya Chetna - Health & Hygiene Education

Lifebuoy Swastya Chetna (LBSC) is a rural health and hygiene initiative which
was started in 2002. LBSC was initiated in media dark villages (in UP, MP,
Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Orissa) with the objective of spreading
awareness about the importance of washing hands with soap.
Fair & Lovely Foundation
 The Fair & Lovely (FAL) Foundation aims at economic empowerment of
women across India by providing information, resources and support in the
areas of education, career and enterprise. It specifically targets women from
low-income groups.
 Fair & Lovely Scholarships
Fair & Lovely Foundation has awarded over 600 deserving girls since 2003.
 Fair & Lovely Career Fairs
To date, over 6,00,000 students have benefited from Career Fairs
conducted in all over cities in India.
•Fair & Lovely Shikhar
Fair & Lovely Shikhar, an initiative by Fair & Lovely, aimed to explore the
inspiring stories of women achievers who have overcome all obstacles with
their strong will and positive attitude and “changed their destinies”. Fair &
Lovely Shikhar is a unique concept based on a real life scenario of women
from various walks of life.
Happy Homes
 Special Education & Rehabilitation
Under the Happy Homes initiative, HUL
supports special education and rehabilitation
of children with challenges.
Asha Daan:
The initiative began in 1976, when HUL
supported Mother Teresa and the Missonaries
of Charity to set up Asha Daan, a home in
Mumbai for abandoned, challenged children,
the HIV-positive and the destitute.
