Dear Teacher,
As requested, the student of your class aujala naveed has prepared a report which examines how
handwriting communicates. This is subject is analyzed in the light of dictum: Handwriting is
civilization's casual encephalogram. The topic you had assigned me is handwriting is civilization's
casual encephalogram. To see how handwriting communicates a persons way of thinking and how it
portrays his character.
The purpose of this report is to present the findings of detailed survey, research, and analysis.

The findings of this report show how handwriting is basically a representation of what our personally
is like. Moreover, how it can be analyzed to get this information.

Yours Sincerely,

Aujala naveed

Executive Summary

Handwriting becomes a Polygraph or Oscilloscope read-out of your "complete self." To you, it's just
handwriting, but to a handwriting analyst, it paints a picture of the person "behind the pen." So this
report aims to find of ways to analysis the personality of the writer by techniques generally used. The
scope is refined to the general characteristics of handwriting, as well as the personality traits that they
reflect. Methods used are observational as well as researched from textual analysis.
Findings include the characteristics of writing which are further analysed to make up a personality
mindset and lastly, concluded to how this knowledge is further implementable in different fields and
professions.

Introduction

Background:
Your brain guides your hand. Everything put on paper is a result of a two-way circuit between your
brain and the motor reflex muscles of your hand.
Handwriting becomes a Polygraph or Oscilloscope read-out of your "complete self." To you, it's just
handwriting, but to a handwriting analyst, it paints a picture of the person "behind the pen."

Aims
This report aims to analyze the handwriting of individual to depict the personality of that person, in
the light of famous dictum: Handwriting is civilization's casual encephalogram. It sheds light on the
techniques used to carry out this analysis.
Scope
Every individual have different style of writing as his/her brain have different ways to show whats
going on in his mind so we came across with a idea to make this project.
One can easily give the digital sample of his/her handwriting to a computer and it calculates the
features using the image processing techniques and predicts the nature of the writer. So the scope is
restricted to the methods used and the general apprehensions that you can make about the personality
of the writer.

Methodology
For the initiation and subsequent completion of this research report, qualitative methodology is used.
Moreover, both the primary and secondary sources have been used for the collection of relevant data.
The analysis of data is made with the help of close textual analysis.

Findings
We considered six main different types of features:
(I) size of letters
(II) Slant of letters and words
(III) Baseline
(IV) Pen pressure
(V) Spacing between letters
(VI) Spacing between words in a document to identify the personality of the writer.

These are the basic ways to characterize the writing types and styles:

S.NO. WRITING CATEGORIES PERSONALITY BEHAVIOUR
1 LARGE LETTERS Likes being noticed, stands out in crowd
2 SMALL LETTERS Introspective, not seeking attention, modest
3 MEDIUM LETTERS Adaptable, fits into a crowd, practical, balanced
4 RIGHT SLANT Sociable, responsive, interested in others, friendly
5 LEFT SLANT Reserved , observant , self-reliant
6 VERTICAL Practical , independent, controlled ,
7 LIGHT PEN PRESSURE Strong emotion , successful, emotion last for long time
8 HEAVY PEN PRESSURE Try to avoid energy draining situations
9 FAR SPACING LETTERS Openness of sentiment and intelligence
10 CLOSE SPACING LETTER Closeness of sentiment and intelligence
11 FAR SPACING WORDS Give me breathing space
12 CLOSE SPACING WORDS Wish to be with others , intrusive
13 RAISING BASELINES Optimistic, upbeat, positive attitude
14 FALLING BASELINES Tired , overwhelmed , pessimistic , not hopeful

Analysis
Now mixing the traits:
1. A writer with heavy pressure and a vertical slant.
Heavy pressure= strong emotions and vertical slant= trying to hold emotions back. This writer is
usually the one who keeps his wits about him. When "all hell breaks loose," his head rules. He will
not be as emotionally responsive as a right slant writer and will "keep cool". This "heavy pressure-
vertical slant" writer won't be able to keep his cool all of the time. When his emotions get the best of
him he may "fly off the handle" at unpredictable times.
2. A person with light pressure writing (not much emotional or physical energy) and a left slant (tries
to avoid emotional situations). This person will be emotionally withdrawn, cold, indifferent and self
centred.
There are many steps involved in creating a complete personality profile. Using these first two steps
you can begin to put together your own "profile" which can be useful in both personal and
professional relationships.

Conclusion
Handwriting analyzing can tell a lot about:
Your Personality
Your emotions
Your likes and dislikes
Your Strengths and weakness
Your intellect and much more.

Not only for personal information is it used by:
Large companies use graphology (handwriting analyzing) to check job applications,
The police still use handwriting experts to determine who wrote what.
Coupled with psychology and knowledge of human behavior, it can be used for many varied
purposes. For example, Recruitment, Marriage compatibility, Career Guidance, Motivate
workers, Child development.. Etc.
Comparing paragraph analysis with signature:
Signature is not the best way to analyze character from handwriting, for several reasons.
Firstly, the Signature is sometimes illegible and different from the normal handwriting.
Secondly, the lone signature does not give enough words and letters to help the graphologist
in his/her judgment.
But signature samples do have certain advantage. Firstly they are easy to collect; even over
long periods of time.
Graphology can analyze a person's personality without the persons knowledge that he/she is
being analyzed. Thus reducing the possibility of inaccuracies due to conscious or unconscious
effort by the subject to affect the result.
Distortion of the result due to the subject's knowledge that he/she is being analyzed is
common in most Question-&-Answer type of personality analysis tools.
It's better to use graphology to analyze the handwriting of a pure untainted subject , rather
than to put the subject under unnatural stress of a long questionnaire.
Also, a single personality questionnaire may reveal a single dimension of personality. But two
handwriting samples of the same person at different occasion may reveals different behaviour
characteristics
