To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter for Alana Fazio who successfully completed her student teaching obtaining a Passing
Grade. Alana was assigned to an Autistic Support Class at Elwyn Inc. for her special education placements
and a Kindergarten Classroom at the Childrens School for her elementary education placement. During her
time at both her placements Alana proved to be a strong teacher in all areas.

I was impressed by the hard work that Alana put into her lessons. She worked with her cooperating
teachers to develop plans that effectively followed the content and pedagogy that was to be covered in her
classrooms. Alana had well thought out plans that were linked to the Pennsylvania State Standards. She was
aware of all her students ability and needs as well as their interests while writing her lesson plans in both
classes. She focused not only on the curriculum, but also involving ideas and concepts that interested the
students.

During student teaching Alana worked hard to develop a strong teaching style of her own. She became
more comfortable and confident with behavior and classroom management, while being patient and caring
with students who may struggle with behavior and/or learning difficulties. I believe that Alana is learning
what it takes to be a strong teacher, but also how to relate to her students and meet their varying needs. She
developed a wonderful rapport with both the classes and all her students responded to her in a positive
manner with respect. Alana was able to joke and laugh with students, but could also draw them back to the
lesson when needed. The students were attentive and focused on her while she taught. They were excited
to learn. It was good to observe that both teacher and students enjoyed the lessons that were planned.

Alana gained valuable knowledge and experiences from both her cooperating teachers. She developed a
close working environment with both teachers along with other staff members in the classroom and school.
Alana also had the opportunity to attend a number of meetings; (faculty, IEP, staff meetings). Her
cooperating teachers guided her through the planning of lessons and units as well as the IEP process and
other legal procedures in the dealing with special education issues.

As Alana Fazios Student Teaching Supervisor, I believe that she has gain the knowledge she needs to
become a successful teacher. Alana will be an asset to any educational setting that she is hired for. Feel free
to contact me at any time at 610-996-1805.

Sincerely,
Karen Miscavage
