I bet you are wondering why in the world I sent you two boxes of rocks. There is
an explanation.
You see, back in the early 90's, shortly after I had graduated from college, Cha
rlie showed me a really beatiful arrowhead you had knapped. It was about 3 inche
s long and made from clear glass.
A couple of summers ago I was down in northern California at Davis Creek as part
of a bigger rockhunting trip with a friend. Davis creek is quite a famous spot
for the varieties of obsidian that are found there.
The rocks I have sent to you come from the 'Rainbow Sheen' pit at atop the mount
ain at xxxxxxxxx N, xxxxxxxx E. I've selected a few of the larger nuggets I haul
ed back. It is a crapshoot as to whether any given rock will exhibit the interna
l sheen. I can tell you that my friend found at least one rock where the sheen w
as on the surface. It was really striking.
If, after all the above, you tell me that you've given up the hobby of knapping,
well then at minimum you've got some nice rocks for your yard!
