REMINDERS:
To maintain the solemnity of the ceremony, please be advised of the following guidelines:
1. We request everyone to put off your cellular phones or put them in silent mode.
2. Clapping within any part of the ceremony is not allowed.
3. Only the official photographers are allowed to take pictures.

I. PROCESSIONAL
As a flaming candle is lit, a cap vested and a pin affixed, a student nurse escalates into a much
higher height of his pursuit of quality nursing education; where respect is bestowed and responsibility is
highly expected.
Recognizing the importance and symbolic significance of a cap, a pin and a lamp in the nursing
profession the class 2011 of the West Visayas State University College of Nursing celebrates its
momentous Capping and Candle Lighting Ceremony
Let us all stand for the processional to be followed by the entrance of colors.
Clinical Instructors, guests, parents enter followed by class Johnson.

VI. OPENING REMARKS Ceremonies
Good morning everyone! Today marks a milestone in the journey of Class Johnson towards
becoming nurses by profession. And it is an honor, that we are all gathered here today to celebrate this
milestone with them. To formally open the capping and candle lighting ceremony of Class 2011, may
we call on, Dr. Pablo E. Subong, University President for his Opening Remarks.

VII. SIGNIFICANCE OF LAMP, CAP AND PIN


The light, cap and pin are all symbolical figures that carries deeper and more profound meaning.
And to enlighten us with the significance of the lamp, cap and pin, let us welcome Prof. Daisy C.
Villarosa, Chair, Division of Clinical Nursing.

VIII. INTRODUCTION OF GUEST SPEAKER


We are very honored that, today, a tenured member of the nursing profession graces this
occasion to inspire us all. To introduce our Guest Speaker for this year’s Capping and Candlelighting
Ceremony, may we call on the Dean of the College of Nursing, Dr. Merline S. Posecion.

IX. INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE


Class 2011 stands up in respect to the speaker and remains standing until acknowledged.

X. GIVING OF CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION AND TOKEN


The speaker remains on center stage for Giving of Certificate and token.
Thank you very much Mr. Speaker, the message that came across to everyone this morning will
surely be an inspiration. May we now call on Dr. Merline S. Posecion, Dean College of Nursing, to be

XI. PRESENTATION OF CLASS 2011


Now to present to us, BSN Class 2011, may we call on Prof. Janet Marie Z. Gequillana,
Chair, Division of Nursing Fundamentals.
Class 2011 rises as presented.

XII. CAPPING AND PINNING CEREMONY


At this point, we will be having one of the highlights of this event: the capping and pinning
ceremony. To cap and pin the participants, we have:
♦ Dr. Merline S. Posecion, Dean College of Nursing to be assisted by Ms. Joana Janet
Gorriceta, Clinical Instructor
♦ Dr. Rosana Grace B. Belo, Director of Instructions and Quality Assurance of this University to
be assisted by Mr. Fenan S. Sollano, Clinical Instructor
♦ Ms. Virginia Gubatanga, OIC Nursing Services Office, West Visayas State University Medical
Center to be assisted by Ms. Ma. Emida A. Martinez, Adviser, BSN 2D
♦ Ms. Eliodora A. Beñas, Chief Nurse, Aleosan District Hospital to be assisted by Ms. Danielle
F. Porras, Adviser, BSN2B

After capping or pinning, students will proceed to their respective areaCeremonies
in the stage/risers

XIII. CANDLE LIGHTING CEREMONY


After the students have been capped, they proceed to the risers on stage. After the last
studentMs. Gubatanga, Ms. Beñas, Ms. Celisio, Ms. Deypalubos, Ms. Marfil, Ms. Plantinos, Ms.
Sorongon, Ms.Suarez return to their seats.
(Lights OFF on stage and front half of hall for effects…)
(Dr. Subong, Dr. Posecion and all four Level 2 advisers prepare for the Candle lighting
Ceremony.)
