HLAC - Lifelong Wellness Application Paper

Write a paragraph (at least four sentences) on Questions 1 3 (Question 4 is optional):
1. What did you learn about lifelong wellness from taking this class?
I learned quite a bit from taking lifelong wellness classes 2014 summer semester at SLCC. I learned
that I can push myself more than I thought, how interval training can help me to achieve my fitness
goals, and I feel better every day; I feel like I am 15 years younger. I really enjoyed the lifelong
wellness classes. I thought Paula Robin Nielson-Williams was very knowledgeable and was very
effective in the way she instructed the class; I thought Julie Q. Morgan was very knowledgeable and
helped me a ton when it comes to flexibility; Marcilina Greyer is a great instructor and showed a lot of
patience with her class and she was also greatly effective in the way she taught and conducted her class;
I enjoyed Gustavo Ibarra as an instructor as he showed me how to plan my workouts and I will use what
Ive learned from all these instructors for the rest of my life.
2. How has learning about and applying lifelong wellness concepts impacted your life (home,
school, work, etc)?
The concepts Ive learned while taking lifelong wellness classes at SLCC have impacted my life in a very
positive way. My goal at the beginning of the summer was to get in shape, feel good about myself, and
learn more about my body and self. Due to the lifelong wellness classes I took, I have changed my diet
and changed my lifestyle. I feel like I have accomplished these goals and I have the confidence to
maintain and pursue further goals when it comes to my body and my overall health.
3. What is your intention to continue to exercise in your life and why?
I want to continue to create fitness goals for myself and continue working out and using what I have
learned from the lifelong wellness classes Ive taken summer semester of 2014. I have also introduced
what Ive learned into my coaching and I will continue to learn and grow as a coach and as a person from
what Ive learned. I feel very fortunate that I signed up for the classes I did and I feel fortunate that I was
able to get the instructors I did. Each and every lifelong wellness instructor that I had over the 2014
summer semester at SLCC is extremely knowledgeable and each one cares about their students as
individuals. I truly appreciate how each teacher listened to my needs and my goals and how they
wanted to help me achieve those goals.
4. General ideas for improving this course?
I dont know how I would improve the courses I took as I think all the instructors were very
knowledgeable and ran their classes very well. I would like to see a jump class added.
