Undesirable Behaviors Targeted: Layne Cornell 4

1. Absences
2. Incomplete work

Desirable (expected) Behavior Targeted:
1. 85% daily attendance for 13 days
a. Arrives on time
b. In seat with materials out when bell rings
c. Stays for the entire class period
2. 85% of students in attendance complete teacher selected product of the options below (announced to class
at beginning of period):
a. Warm up
b. Group assignment
c. Daily assignment
d. Interactive notebook
e. Exit Ticket

Reinforcements
1. Immediate R+
There is a poster of a laptop with an empty keyboard prominently displayed in the class. If the class
achieves 85% attendance for the day, a student will be called on to draw a letter from the box. The student
will pin the letter in the appropriate place on the laptops keyboard. There will be blue letters and green
letters. Blue letters are awarded for attendance and the green letters for assignment completion.

1. Delayed R+ (i.e., intermediate accumulation of individual to show progress toward goal
Students can visually see their progress as the keyboard begins to fill out with all 26 letters of the
alphabet. When the class has achieved 7 days of 85% attendance, I will praise their progress and discuss
what still needs to be done in order to achieve our goal.

2. Novel Interactive Learning Activity for whole class when goal is met
a. When the attendance goal is met we will undertake a project to plan a fundraiser so that we can
purchase Chromebooks for the classroom. The plan requires students to research money-making
ideas and compare their potential to help us meet our goal using linear equations, tables, and
graphs.
b. When the academic goal of product completion is met, we will actually carry out the fundraiser
and purchase the Chromebooks.
Teaching Desired Behaviors:
To show students what I mean by attendance, I will use pictures of students sitting at their desks with
their materials out. To teach the behavior of completing work, we will discuss what kind of distractions
students need to overcome. We will talk about how to eliminate these distractions (put cell phone in
backpack). Then we will rehearse the behaviors by having students re-enter the room, take out materials,
and wait for further instruction.

To teach the plan, we will spend a few minutes discussing the benefit to having Chromebooks in the
classroom so that students are motivated to earn the R+. Then we will discuss the attendance and
academic goals that we must meet as a class. I will draw letters out of the box, explaining that they are
awarded for meeting our daily goal, and show them how to pin them to the wall.
Provide an outline of how you will teach desired behavior(s)
Across Class Periods:
The plan will be the same for all classes, but to track progress each class will have their own laptop poster.
Each class will have a different brand laptop poster. 1
