Field Studies & Activity Fee
In an effort to promote more learning opportunities outside
of the classroom, DGS has launched the Field Studies
Program to some really cool places throughout the state.
Mr. Truitt has been hired to help plan and facilitate 78
excursions outside of the classroom.
Kindergarten is planning on going on 4 or 5.
It is vital that DGS collect student activity fees this year
($35 for kindergarten) to help pay for buses and entrance
fees.
If you need to set up an alternative payment plan, talk to
Mr. Truitt, Mr. Jaquette or Ms. Mundt
PTA
Please join!

Meets once a month--
lots of opportunities to
engage.

You will also be getting
occasional e-mails and
notifications from our
Room Parent.

DGS Room Parent/Guardian
The role of the Room Parent (formerly POC-point of
contact) is to help us build community in our
classroom.
This role can look however we want it to, but needs to
focus on a few things:
o Inform the parent community about class
happenings, school happenings
o Recruit volunteers for our classroom from
everything to helping with centers to field trips and
special events.
We need a Room Parent Is this you?

Friday Enrichment
DGS has early dismissal every Friday.

Families can choose to join our Friday Enrichment
Program, which provides a choice of interesting activities
from 12:45-3:45. There are packets available that explain
the program in detail.

Enrichment begins on Friday, August 29th. Remember
buses leave DGS every Friday at 12:45. There are NO
busses at 3:45 on Fridays.

Home Visits
Families new to DGS will be offered home visits to discuss
hopes and dreams for your child. Typically your childs
kindergarten teacher and student teacher will be in
attendance. These visits will be limited to 20 minutes.

You will be contacted soon to schedule our visit.

Or sign up tonight!

First Day of School
Line up by your classrooms outside door. Kindergarten
teachers will wait until the 7:55 bell to escort students into
class.
Students will wave "see you later!" to parents and head into
the classroom to start our first day of kindergarten!!
In order to establish kindergarten routines
and procedures right away, parents are asked
not to enter the classroom.
REMEMBER: Quick goodbyes leave
drier eyes!

Staggered Start Days
To ease the transition into kindergarten we are beginning
our school year with a half day. Half of the kindergarten
students will attend school on Thursday while the other half
will attend Friday. Please note, your student will only
attend ONE of these days. The schedule is posted in the
classroom

During this time we will explore the school and learn the
rules and routines for recess, lunch, and classroom.
All kindergarten students will attend on Monday to begin
the year as a whole class.
