The physical education staff is excited about a new semester and we hope you will enjoy your time in physical education and learn many new and interesting activities. Our wish is that each individual finds some type of activity within our curriculum that will provide lifetime enjoyment!
For safety and for hygiene reasons, all students must change their clothes before and after each class.
Athletic clothing is required (we recommend that your name is on everything) T-shirt Shorts Athletic shoes tied on the outside of your shoe Additional clothing is recommended for outside activities (i.e. sweatshirts, jackets, sweatpants) School uniforms are for sale in the school store (these are not mandatory). All clothing worn in P.E. must follow dress code. ATTENDANCE If a student misses class for any reason, 30 minutes of activity must be made up (afterschool on own time). The student needs to fill out the P. E. make-up form, and have it signed by your parent/coach/supervisor. The student needs to complete 1 workout for each class period that is missed (90 minutes does not make-up for 3 missed classes). If the make-up sheet is not turned in within 2 weeks of an absence, it will result in a 0 for that missed class. GRADING A-B-C-D-F 75% Daily points = 5 points 2 responsibility points (including completing assignments prior to class, bringing a writing utensil, bringing a planner, etc) and 3 points participation, attitude and performance 25 % Written quizzes, written assignments, and class projects DRESS VIOLATIONS If a student fails to dress out for P.E. they would receive a grade of zero for that day and they cannot make it up. We do not give credit for partially dressing out.
IN ORDER TO BE EXCUSED FROM P.E. A STUDENT NEEDS A School nurse/doctor note Parental note We do not excuse anyone from class without a note, we will still require a student to dress out and try their best. Physical Education excuse notes should be received by the P.E. teachers prior to class.
PERSONAL HYGIENE P.E. clothing and towels need to be taken home and washed regularly (at least weekly). Remember to use deodorant after each PE class (no aerosols/ no perfumes). Showers are available for students, however, it is not mandatory for a student to take a shower after class. If a student takes a shower in the locker room it is important that he/she brings in the supplies necessary to take a shower (i.e. towel and soap) and that he/she uses their dress-out time wisely.
LOCKERS/PADLOCKS All students will be issued their own private locker and padlock. Your locker combination is private, DO NOT share it with anyone.
SECURITY Lockers are for storing P.E. materials only. Do not leave any valuables in your P.E. locker. Make sure the padlock is locked. Backpacks are not allowed in the gym/locker room.
LOCKER ROOM RULES You will have 5 minutes to dress out for class and approximately 10 minutes after class to dress back to school. Students must be in the locker room when the final bell rings to begin class. No running or horseplay is allowed in the locker room Students must be out of the locker room before the bell rings to end the period. At the end of the hour students will remain inside the gym in their role call spot until the bell rings to be dismissed to the next class.
