Course Goals and Objectives:
The AP Spanish Language and Culture Course is conducted completely in Spanish. The students will develop a strong command of the Spanish language in this course through speaking, writing, listening and reading skills. Students are encouraged to speak Spanish in class with the teacher and classmates. In addition to a working knowledge of the language, it is important for students to be aware of the history, art, politics, and social structures of Spanish-speaking countries. Thus, this course will include a panoramic introduction to some major literary works as well as to the different cultural aspects of the countries in the world that have Spanish as their main language. The students are also exposed to current events and literary works of the Spanish-speaking world through newspaper and magazine articles, short stories and video and audio clips. A comprehensive review of key grammatical topics and popular idiomatic phrases will serve to expand the students language abilities and to avoid pitfalls in the Spanish language. Students in 4H and 5 will complete the same work with these exceptions: 4Hweekly verb quizzes, shorter written work; 5weekly grammar quizzes, longer written work
