A new controller is proposed for single-phase PWM converters that does not require an AC source voltage sensor. The controller estimates the AC source voltage using a sliding mode observer based on the converter's input current and duty cycle. Simulation and experimental results show the controller provides good dynamic response and regulation of the DC bus voltage without measuring the AC source voltage.
