COURSE SCHEDULE Week 1 -What is visual thinking? Discuss the meaning and purpose of the course. Week 2 and 3 -Project 1 Little Planets Use the Mac lab, digital images, Photoshop and a printer you will create an image that conveys meaning about you, your friends, and or your place in the world. Week 3 Lynda.com overview You will have access to Lynda.com for the semester. This resource will be used throughout the course to gain understanding on software applications, art and design theory as well as cutting edge information about creative subjects. Week 4 -6 Digital, 3 D and Studio Hybrid Project This craft oriented project will allow you to flex your innovative muscle. Go beyond the print out or pencil sketch to create a product that uses both digital and traditional tools. Week 6-10 Recycled Sculpture Contest Collaborative project entered into the Maryland Department of the Environment Contest Week 11-16 Recycled Fashion Project Create an inventive outfit using recycled materials Week 17-18 Course wrap up

General Rules: Please be mindful of the equipment you are using at all times. Adhere to the safety rules that are in place. Be respectful of each other. Be on time for class. Grading Policies: Grades are based on an accumulation of points Attendance is required for every class. If you have a planned absence let me know by email. Class participation I expect you to take part in discussions and to be able to answer questions about assigned homework. You will receive a participation grade each quarter. Policy for dealing with late submissions Late work will be accepted at my discretion only. Academic dishonesty and plagiarism It is important to read and understand the honor code. Include it on every test. Homework and class work answers should be your independent work unless specified as group work.
