1. INTRODUCTION
For safety reasons the existing handrails on the ZA 40S engines have been modified in such a way
that it becomes safer to work on the engine mounted platforms.
This Service Bulletin should be kept in a separate file in the control room. The respective pages
or tables of the Service Bulletin with modifications to the Operating Manual, Maintenance
Manual or Code Book should be copied and filed in the respective Manual or Book.
2. ADDITIONAL HANDRAIL ON THE ENGINE-MOUNTED PLATFORM
An additional handrail has been introduced on the engine-mounted platform in order to reduce the
risk of accidents. We recommend to have this additional handrail added on existing engines.
New installations will already be provided with the modified handrail.
3. ORDERING THE ADDITIONAL PARTS
The necessary parts can be ordered through Wrtsil NSD France Ltd and any of our Network
Companies.
For correct order please mention the plant name, the engine type and the cylinder number.
4. INSTALLATION OF THE ADDITIONAL PARTS
These additional parts can easily be fitted by the crew or the power plant personnel. Sketches with
the necessary measurements for the installation of the above mentioned additional parts will be
included in the delivery.
