Dear Parents and Family,


As the new school year gets underway, I would like to start off by introducing
myself. My name is Mrs. Karaoguz and I will be your childs 6th grade Math
teacher.
Responsibility, time management, organizational skills, teamwork, and
leadership skills are all characteristics that I am prepared to utilize in the
classroom, as well as instill in my students. I feel that it is very important to
create a positive and conducive learning environment.
Im very excited about this year and would like to use this opportunity to
share with you some information regarding your childs Math class. Therefore,
please turn this letter over to see my classroom policies.
Im looking forward to getting to know you and your child in the upcoming
weeks. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn
and grow in the days ahead.
I look forward to meeting you at Back to School Night on September 12. In

Class Rules & Discipline
I have high expectations for all my students. Every student should come to class prepared with all their
classroom materials, be responsible, and respectful towards one another. It is also important to review
the MacArthur Handbook with your child, to familiarize yourself with the schools policies.
Consequences for Negative Behavior:
1. Verbal Warning

4. Call Home-Behavior Reflection Form
5. Referral to Counselor

Homework Policy
Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday and occasionally Friday. It is due at the beginning of
class and late work is not accepted. If your child is absent, the student is responsible to make up any
missed work. Students should refer to their class notes and math book, in case they have difficulty
with an assignment.
I am usually available in the morning, during nutrition, lunch, and after school until 3:00 P.M. for
tutoring. Please be aware that there may be times your child will be required to attend a math tutorial
due to their grades.
