What aspects of the teaching or content of this course were especially effective? I really enjoyed this class Dr. Polando was very good at explaining the complicated information and made it very interesting. I also liked how she got input from the class on what particular subjects we would like to cover after we finished all the essential information. 1. I loved medical microbiology: Dr. Polando had a great system going of incorrporating the "fun" lectures and journal club days in with the rest of her course load. 2. Pictures. 3. None 4. Good lecture powerpoints and the journal reviews were interesting. 5. Dr. Polando showed a lot of enthusiasm for the material. Her enthusiasm kept me interested and alert in class. 6. Being able to come to you with any questions or difficulties 7. journal club 8. Journal Clubs are fantastic...really interesting, most challenging part of the course, and really useful. 9. The fact that all quizzes were open from the beginning was great. 10. All of the diagrams helped better explain concepts that were unclear at first. 11. What changes could be made to improve the teaching or Manchester University Course Evaluation Reports https://gateway.manchester.edu/_layouts/course_evaluation_reports/... 2 of 3 5/12/14, 12:11 PM the content of this course? I did not think that the quizzes were very effective at helping me learn. I would have like them to be taken after we covered the chapter to see how well I understood the information given. Lots of the questions asked only were covered in the book and not so much in the lecture. 1. Perhaps make the course a two semester course or maybe worth 4 credit hours as a lecture-- there was a LOT of material and I felt like I was rushing all semester. 2. Picture with title. It's hard to remember what the picture is for with no title. More exams. There is too much information for only two exams. 3. Get rid of this course all together 4. No changes 5. None. 6. I did not like the book it seemed to confuse me more, the material for this class was pretty difficult the book seemed to go into way further detail than the class notes 7. powerpoints could be a little clearer/in a better order -- using them for review of a test can be confusing 8. Exams were pretty easy...not complaining, but you've got a lot of wiggle room before they get too tricky. The last exam (before the final) was better. 9. Maybe have larger groups for JC so we didn't have so many to do. 10. I really like class activities so maybe some more activities like the complement activity. 11.
