The Story of Your Research
Conducting research for my social justice issue that is inadequate youth education was an
interesting experience and difficult at times. I wondered whether to incorporate statistical
information or story based information. Even though my issue is about the education of youth,
which might have many data that correlate high quality education to certain academic
achievements connected to it, I wanted to illustrate that the base education a child receives goes
beyond academic achievement to emotional intelligence, financial success, etc.
Discerning between research that was too info heavy and research that would aid in my
conversation was difficult. Perhaps I could have used some of the statistical dense research that
had facts and figures about psychology, etc, and refined it down to lend to my paper.
I was surprised to see edutopia.com, a source that was used in a class reading, as a main
source of my thought formula, even if I didnt reference in my paper. I found that my topic is
something that is hard to get a grasp on. Its a broad topic. Writing about my desire to improve
education as a whole, without specifying on which area, may prove to be difficult throughtout
the course of this class.
