They say roman sports were very brutal and cruel. They were made to
entertain the emperor and his people. This information report is going to tell
you more about the gladiators, chariot racing and boxing. When reading this
you find out more information that you didnt know about the 3 most famous
sports in roman times that were bloody.
The gladiators where created in 246 B.C to AD 404. They gladiators are slaves
or prisoners or even someone who volunteers for the fame and fortune, so its
like a carrier or a job. They even decided to send lions in there to fight. The
arena known as the bloody arena is one of the greatest buildings in all of Rome.
It could hold more then 50 000 people and has 80 entrances for easier access.

Roman boxing is one of the most popular sports in
Rome as well as chariot racing and gladiator fighting. Boxing used a glove type
that is made of palm tree leaves that covers up their fingers their fingers. They
mainly use there right arm to punch and left arm to block. To make the game
more interesting they decided to make it that they couldnt use anything other
than their hands to get their opponent on the ground and they were not
allowed to grab or hold them. They were also allowed to pause and take a
break to recover from their serious accidents like broken limbs because they
didnt have any rounds.

Artefact 3: a picture of
chariot racing. The 12
chariot racers have for
horse and the cart is light
so it is faster.
Chariot racing is a four horse one man race and that man has to race against 11
other racers, so theres 12 people racing. It is held in the centre of town known
as Circus Maximus. Crashes were very common to happen so there was more
action. The winning chariot will receive a victors palm or gold crown and also
money and gifts. They have seven laps of a 568m course. The circuit was first
built in the 6
th
century B.C. the chariots were built lightly for more speed.

brutal one would be gladiators. Now you should know more about Ancient
Roman Sports.
