The rites of passage in Italy and U.S. is very much similar. Like both countries have
religious rituals like baptism, first communion, confirmation and marriage. And teenagers

Be open, outgoing, and engage in their conversation. And shake their hand.

The standard of living is about the same as the U.S. The average families live in
apartments or two story homes like the U.S. Also they are becoming an industrialized
country that keeps growing. Lastly, Average life expectancy is 80 years, and the infant
mortality rate is below the European average.

response.
Family is important to Italians because everything is influenced by the family like
marriage choices, business relationship, and employment. Plus marriage is influenced from
the Catholic Church.

specific details.
From 1922-1942, the black shirt was the uniform. But now jeans are very popular but
not if they are frayed or tattered. Clothing they were fashionable silk ties with delicately cut
suits for men. And for women are elegant dresses or skirts plus a blouses.

using specific facts.
Globalization made the food spread across other countries and become popular.
Like pizza, pasta and sauce, venice, eggplant, and zucchini. These food people eat all
around the world now because it became worldwide.

receive in the U.S.?
Education in Italy is free between the ages of 6-14 years old. The secondary
education is offered either in science or humanities. Plus choice a technical or
teacher training school to learn.

Italy is best known for the architecture and sculpture of ancient Rome. Also they are
well known from great composers like Vivaldi at playing the violin. Plus Italy is best known
from the artist Leonardo Da Vinci, who created the Mona Lisa painting.

Most people live in apartment or two story high homes. And Standard of living is
higher than south Italy.
15. How do people of this country spend their leisure time? List at least five
activities. Would you want to live there?
Italians like to watch soccer games in the stadium or watch it on TV. Or go to a cafe
with their friends in which they can stay as long as they want to. On Sundays the whole
family will go to an outdoor restaurant for a meal and spend the whole days there. Also the
beach is a popular hangout that people like to do on the free time. Or Italians are doing a
bicycle race.

16. List (in order of significance) what you feel are the three biggest problems that this
country needs to resolve.
One big problem the mafia violence because it involves gangs, drugs and
kidnappings. Also another big problem is high unemployment because it leaves a lot of
people with no income and a job. And another problem that should be resolved is the
economic growth.

17. Are all people treated equally in this country? Why or why not? Explain your answer
using specific evidence.
At the most part people are treated equally. But in some parts of Italy they tolerate
and accept of same-sex marriage or homosexuals. While other parts in Italy discriminate
same sex marriage. But more people in Italy are beginning to approve same-sex marriage.
