Shedding Light on the Environmental Concerns Around the World

Subject and Grade Level: Grade 3 Social Studies

General Learning Outcome:
Students will demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of Canadas roles and
responsibilities in global citizenship in relation to communities in India, Tunisia, Ukraine
and Peru.

Specific Learning Outcome:
Explore the concept of global citizenship by reflecting upon the following questions for
inquiry: What are some environmental concerns that Canada and communities around
the world share?

Description of Activity:
By selecting the links below, students will research the different environmental concerns
seen throughout the world today. Students will then pick 3 environmental concerns and
answer the following questions:
1) What is the environmental concern?
2) What will happen if we do not stop or slow the environmental concern?
3) What can we do to help stop the environmental concerns?

Why Use Technology?
The use of technology is a great tool for this assignment because the internet is a very
fast and effective way for students to research information. There is an abundant
amount of information regarding environmental concerns on the internet and it is a
great way for students to learn about the growing issues. Using computers also makes
the assignment more exciting for students which will further engage them in the activity.

I made sure to keep my search simple and concise
I searched exactly what I wanted to find (Environmental issues around the world today)
I searched three separate times in order to get a variety of website references
