Assessment name: Information report : Australian Megafauna
Task: Students are to plan, draft, edit and publish a creative and informative information report on an Australian
Megafauna. Students must also display knowledge on how their megafauna has evolved and adapted into a living
animal of today. Students are to use multiple sources to gather their information and display their writing in a
nonbiased way. Students are to use a variety of images to represent specific information (map of location, features
of animal, etc) but must still display the written content to explain the images purpose. Students must structure their
report as information texts are structured. Students must also include all references (name of book or website) that
they retrieved their information from.
Students will be assessed against the following criteria:
1 = Weak 2 = Moderately Weak 3 = Average 4 = Moderately Strong 5 = Strong
1. The student introduces the topic in a clear, lively, creative and interesting fashion.

2. The student focuses on a main idea and supports it with explanations, facts and photos/images.
