CSULA is an impacted campus. Campus impaction requires that we give priority
admission consideration to first time freshman applicants and upper division

Program Impaction Criteria for Students Applying for Fall 2013 ______________________________________________________________
Due to program impaction, the number of applicants who can be admitted to the
major is limited by space availability.

Incoming freshman students wishing to major in Social Work should select Social
Work (Freshman)on their CSU Mentor Application and will be admitted as
Undeclared Majors with an interest in Social Work.

Freshman students admitted to the university as Undeclared Majors, continuing
lower division students, and students changing majors are eligible to apply to
the Social Work major once they meet all the following supplementary admission
criteria:

BASW ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS ___________________________
1. A minimum college GPA of 2.75 or better.
2. Completion of at least 45 quarter (30 semester) units of college coursework
as a continuing student, or at least 90 quarter (60 semester) units of college
coursework as a transfer student.
3. Completion of one social science prerequisite course (PSY 150, SOC 201, or
SOC 202) (or an equivalent course at another institution) with a grade of "C" or
better.

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED COURSES ____________________________
1. The WPE should be passed as soon as possible as a prerequisite for SW 301.
2. A statistics course (SOC 210A, ECON 109, HHS 400, or EDFN 452) (or
equivalent course at another institution) must be passed with a grade of "C" or
better as a prerequisite for SW 370 and SW 391.

Continuing students should complete a BASW application form and return it to the
school. Priority will be given to those applicants who submit their complete
application by March 1st of the calendar year the applicant seeks to be
admitted.

Requirements for the Major (86-87 units)
The BASW program requires a total of 180 units for the degree, including 67
units in required upper division courses in social work; 11-12 units of
prerequisite courses; and 8 units of elective courses in social work or other
related fields as approved.

are attempted:
