AGREEMENT FOR STUDENTS YT 3-9


As a user of the Internet, Email, School network, Ultranet and ICT equipment at Point Cook College I
agree to:
o
Protect my privacy rights and those of other students by not giving out personal details including full names,
telephone numbers, addresses and images whilst online.
o
Use the internet in Iine with my school's Student Code of Co-operation, use appropriate language when
talking to and working with others online and never participate in hate mail/chat or cyber bullying. This is
inline with the schools guiding rule 'Nobody has the right to physically or emotionally hurt another'.
This also applies through the use of technology.
o
Use the internet at school for educational purposes and only as directed by teachers.
o
Not deliberately enter or remain in any site that has obscene language or offensive content
[e.g
racist
material or violent/sexually explicit images)
o
Not eat or drink food whilst using ICT equipment,
o Think about how I use content posted on the internet and not simply copy and paste information from
websites.
o
Not interfere with network security, the data of another user or attempt to log into the network with a
username or password of another student or staff member
o
Not reveal my password to anyone except the system administrator or classroom teachers.

Not bring or download unauthorised programs, including games, movies/videos, to the school or run them
on school computers or store on school servers,
o
To use ICT equipment with the greatest of care and respect. I understand that I may be required to pay for
any equipment, which is damaged as a result of my actions.
o
Respect others when I talk to and work with them online and never write or participate in online bullying.

Talk to my teacher or another trusted adult if:
o I need help online
o I feel that the welfare of other students and staff members at the school is being threatened by
online activities
o I come across sites which are not suitable for our school
o Someone writes something I don't like, or makes myself and my friends feel uncomfortable or asks
me to provide information that I know is private.
When I use mobile devices such as iPad, iPod, PSP, Nintendo DS, mobile phone or other devices I agree to:
o
Use it for learning purposes as directed by my teacher.
o
Act responsibly and not use the device to find, create or send information that might be harmful
inappropriate or hurtful to me or anyone else.

Only play games/software that is age appropriate and in no way offensive whilst at school.
o
Be solely responsible for any loss or damages to my personal property whilst at school.
When using my mobile device as a phone I will:

Only do so under teacher instruction.
o
Protect the privacy of others and never post private information about another person using SMS messages
or social networks.
Please Npte:
o
Students are not permitted to text or call during school hours unless instructed otherwise by their
classroom teacher.
o
Mobile phones are to be kept on silent and in bags or lockers during class times at all times.
When using my mobile device as a camera I will:

Only do so under teacher instruction,

Only take photos and record sound or video when it is part of a class or lesson.

Seek permission from individuals involved before taking photos, recording sound or videoing them
[including
teachers)

Seek written permission from individuals involved before publishing or sending photos, recorded sound or
video to anyone else or to any online space.

The acceptable use policy for mobile devices applies to students during school excursions, camps and extra'
curricula activities.
If students use their device contrary to this agreement
[including
mobile phones) the device will be in the first
instance confiscated and returned at the end of the day. For subsequent incidents the device will be confiscated
and parents will be called to collect.
This agreementwill remain active
for
the remainder of your child's time a Point Cook College. If there are
any changes to this poliqt, you will be notified.

Please note students in years 7-9 will be provided with filtered internet and network access as part of
the 1:1 iPad program. Any inappropriate conduct or material stored on iPads will result in a loss of
network privileges and other disciplinary action if required. Students will be provided with lockable
storage for their iPad whilst at school.
