FREEHOLD When Nicole Tates daughter was in kindergarten, she shared her classroom
with 29 other students. How do you think it goes with 30 kindergartners crowded into a class-
room? Tate asked. We preach the value of early education, but we cant do it with 30 kids in a
classroom. On Tuesday, a majority of Freehold voters did not agree with Tate, rejecting a $32.9
million project to make additions and improvements to the Park Avenue Elementary/Middle
School and to the Freehold Learning Center. According to the Monmouth County Clerks Office,
374 people voted against the referendum and 272 voted for it. There were 5,092 active voters in the
borough as of January.
