A Federal Regulatory Commission for Robotics Could Be the Next FTC by Natalie Gagliordi
2: As the USA continues to make breakthroughs in the field of robotics, including self-driving
vehicles, drones, and many others, Ryan Calo and the Brookings Institute argues that the Federal
Robotics Commission should be created to regulate this new technology. This new organization would
help fund for robotics research, advise robot manufacturers, and regulate laws, both current and future,
involving robotics in the USA. Some believe that other countries that put more funding into robotics
research could jump ahead of the USA in innovation. Calo believes that the real-world uses of new robot
technologies, such as drones and driverless cars, could be a very eminent reality with the help of a
government organization to regulate and fund the industry.
3: Google- Why We Need a Federal Robotics Commission By Emily Tamkin (Future Tense)
Bing- Why the U.S. might just need a Federal Commission on Robots By Nancy Scola
(Washington Post)
Both search engines provided an easy search with what I would consider to be an equal quality.
Bing navigated me to numerous articles with the ones written by well-known websites and papers, such
as The Washington Post, being featured. While Google led me to an equal amount of articles, but the
featured links were to websites and organizations with a larger focus on technology and robotics; which
is what my search was based on. Upon reading the better articles I was navigated to, I realized both
were short and simple yet relayed the answers I was looking for in an understandable manner. But, I
believe Google led me to the better article that was more helpful in researching my topic.

4: Why the U.S. Might Just Need a Federal Commission on Robots
T- 9/15/2014
R- The article is directly related to the topic.
A- Nancy Scola. She has a history in writing articles related involving Technology involved in
politics and public policy.
A- The information is credible because it is from a generally trusted company, The Washington
Post. It is also credible for the topic because it refers directly to the paper written by Calo
where he proposes the idea of the FRC
P- The article was written to inform readers about the possible appointment of a new
government commission. It has very little bias because it is mostly a factual article based of a
political proposal.
