News from the Ann Penn Allen Society
Mike and Janet Slosberg’s life in Manhattan might seem a world
away from the Lehigh Valley, but scratch the surface and you'll 4
quickly find the connection. “My husband spent a good part of
his childhood in Allentown and we still have many dear friends
in the area,” said Janet.
The Slosbergs have made the generous decision to donate
their extensive collection of paintings, sculpture, drawings,
and decorative arts from the first half of the twentieth cen-
tury to the Allentown Art Museum as a planned gift from
their estate, making them members of the Museum's Ann
Penn Allen Society. Janet explained, “After amassing our
collection over the past 25 years, we wanted to keep it
intact. We visited a number of places, but we just loved
the Allentown Art Museum, and my husband's roots in
the area made it a natural choice.”
The Slosbergs have also committed to establishing an
endowment fund at the Museum to maintain the collection. As
they noted, “When artwork goes to a museum, and especially
important to recognize that budget
lity. We wanted to ensure the collection
for in perpetuity, and so we thought it
would be good to give the Museum a head start.”
The Mu grateful for the Slosberg’s philanthropic
foresight in donating what they call their “labor of love.” We
invite others to join them in the Ann Penn Allen Society and to
attend the Soc’ enta special lecture and reception
