December 11, 2013 To Whom It May Concern: Since August, Christine Collins has been student teaching in our first grade classroom at Marlborough School. It has been a privilege to work with Christine. Over the past four months, Christine has flourished as a teacher. She has a very warm, caring demeanor. She has a very strong rapport with each of our twenty two students. Her classroom management skills have improved drastically and she is now able to run the daily schedule with ease. She taught two full weeks independently and did a wonderful job. She also has taken on many daily tasks such as morning meeting, math groups, Response to Intervention literacy groups, and transitioning the students between activities. Christine has become very familiar with the first grade curriculum, including the Common Core. She is very capable of creating fun, age-appropriate lessons and activities that keep the students engaged. She has introduced so many new ideas and activities into our classroom, especially many hands-on math centers. I have thoroughly enjoyed planning and co- teaching with Christine. She is full of great ideas and always up for a challenge. Christine has an innate passion for teaching and learning. She is constantly reflecting on her teaching and striving to improve. She takes feedback gracefully and always applies any suggestions. Christine has been determined to learn as much as she can during this student teaching experience. She has put in the extra effort and attended staff meetings, workshops, parent/teacher conferences, etc. She even took time out of her busy schedule to attend a few evening student performances and athletic events. Additionally, she served as an assistant Middle School soccer coach this past fall. This certainly speaks to her character and her dedication as a teacher. I would strongly recommend Christine for any elementary teaching position. She has a strong work ethic and an enthusiasm that is contagious. She would make a positive addition to any staff.
