LEADERSHIP
An important part of an managers job.
Manager must be able to lead the group working under him for
accomplishment of the common objective of enterprise.
It is the driving force which gets things done by others.
A good leader achieves maximum cooperation from the group
members by providing two-way communication and by
motivation.

STYLES OF LEADERSHIP
Leadership style refers to a leaders behavior , a pattern
which the leader reflects in his role.
Leadership style is the result of leaders personality,
experience and value system.
Different types of leadership are:
-Autocratic
-Democratic
- Free Rein
-Paternalistic


Leader expect complete obedience from his subordinates.
Decision making power is centralized with the leader.
No suggestion from subordinates are entertained.
The leader force the subordinates to obey him without
questioning.
This type of leaders are generally disliked by the
subordinates



AUTOCRATIC
DEMOCRATIC
One who gives instructions only after consulting the
group.
Leader function as collectors of opinion and take a vote
before making a decision.
Delegates full authority to subordinates.
In this style employees feeling of self worth and
satisfaction increases.
It improves the quality of decisions.

FREE REIN
Free rein leader does not lead, but leave the
group entirely on it.
Maximum freedom is allowed to subordinates.
The leader depends largely upon the group to
establish its own goal and work out its own
problems.
Group members work themselves and provide
their own motivation.
The leader provides help only when required by
his subordinates.
In this leader avoids power and functions as a
group member.


PATERNALISTIC
This style is based on sentiments and emotions of
people.
Such a leader is like a father to his subordinates.
He helps, guides and protects all of his
subordinates like a father but under him no one
grows.
The subordinates became dependent upon the
leader.
