What is Edmodo & Why do we use it?

Edmodo is a free and social-networking styled, educationally designed, cloud based, learning
management system (LMS) for teachers, students, and schools. Edmodo provides classroom
communities of students and their teachers a safe and easy way to connect and collaborate.
Edmodo offers a real-time online platform to exchange ideas, share content, as well as access
homework, grades and school notices.
The Edmodo software application is an online service. So, to access Edmodo, students and
teachers need only a computer, a browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Chrome, Safari) and an
internet connection. There are also iPhone and Android phone apps for Edmodo.
Why Edmodo?
From the www.edmodo.com website, Edmodo is used so a community of students and teachers
can share, communicate and learn together at a distance wherever they are (as long as they
have access to the internet). Equally importantly, it takes little effort for schools and teachers
with limited time and/or resources to get it set up. Edmodo is hosted online (so you don't need
extra equipment, software, or tech support staff to run it). It is free of charge, user-friendly, and
easy to learn. This means that Edmodo gets used by students and teachers at very low risk of
wasting school time or money. Currently, over 32 million teachers and students connect safely
in Edmodo classrooms, collaborating on assignments, and discovering new resources together
online.
